Chained in Backrooms Chapter 2 & Good Ending

Clear the research facility stretch and choose the green destiny vote for the better ending.

Chapter 2 Good Ending

Finish Chapter 1 and the game announces Chapter 1 complete before initiating Chapter 2. The tone shifts from pure chained obby into research-facility storytelling: tracking signals, color sequence puzzles, lava crossings, lever puzzles, and a destiny vote that splits good vs bad endings. This page assumes you already know Pull and rope etiquette from Chain Mechanics and have a Chapter 1 clear path from the Walkthrough.

Entering Chapter 2 cleanly

Take a five-minute break after Chapter 1. Refill drinks, reclaim the free group reward if a friend just joined (Getting Started), and reassign roles. Chapter 2 punishes impatience more than raw jump skill. Keep Controls handy if anyone forgot E vs Pull.

Early Level 2 progress often ties to the Landspace’s Dust (Level 2) badge when you enter Level 2 for the first time. Treat badges as milestones, not gates. Other early badges from the wider journey—Tragectory Welcomers, You joined the backrooms—may already be owned from Chapter 1.

Research facility orientation

Facility rooms emphasize observation. NPCs or logs may mention that your signal was tracked through the backrooms and that time is limited before you push through hazards toward an escape portal. Listen, then move as a unit. Split only when a puzzle literally requires two levers at once—and even then, keep rope slack planned.

Caller habits that matter here:

  • Read every on-screen prompt aloud once.
  • Repeat color sequences slowly.
  • Count lever pulls.
  • Stop all movement during memory playback.

Color sequence puzzles

Chapter 2 frequently shows a color pattern you must repeat on panels or floors. Tips:

  1. Watch the full sequence before anyone touches a panel.
  2. One interacter presses; others verify.
  3. If Simon Says energy returns, obey only valid prompts—fake-outs still exist in spirit.
  4. Colorblind teammates get verbal names (“two red, one blue”), not “that one.”
  5. After success, wait for doors before celebrating sprints into lava.

If the party fails, reset calmly. Spamming inputs usually lengthens the lockout.

Lava zones

Lava lanes are chain exams. Shorten formation. Jump on shared counts. If someone slips, Pull toward safe rock, not deeper into the glow. Sprint only on long safe slabs. These rooms are why you practiced tether slack in Chapter 1 Tower Obby.

Creature pressure can overlap with lava—apply Survive Creatures rules: tight blob, no crossing the rope, no solo hero bridges.

Lever and multi-interact puzzles

When two levers must flip together:

  • Place players within comfortable rope length of both switches.
  • Countdown “3-2-1-pull.”
  • Confirm both lights/doors responded before leaving.

Single-lever gates still need lookouts; facility ambushes love interact animations. Tools 1–3, if present, stay with pre-assigned holders.

Destiny vote: green good ending vs red bad ending

Late Chapter 2 presents a destiny style choice. Community clears consistently treat green as the good ending and red as the bad ending, even when flavor text teases you with lines like voting green “if you want to die” or red “if you want to hear me sing.” Read the prompts, then commit as a majority.

For the good ending:

  1. Make sure everyone understands which color is green on their display.
  2. Stand/interact on the green option within the timer (often about 30 seconds).
  3. Avoid ties if the game resolves them unpredictably—stack the vote.
  4. Do not troll-vote red “for content” unless the whole party agreed to see both endings on a later run.
  5. Stay chained and patient through the outro; early leaves can soft-miss completion for friends.

You can replay later for the red path. First clears should take green unless you are specifically ending-hunting.

Optional side obby near the ending

Some runs mention an extra obstacle path near the finale. It is optional flavor—clear it only if the party still has focus. Burning out on a side obby right before the vote is how good ending attempts turn into arguments. Park it for a completionist night with the Guides Hub checklist.

Suggested Chapter 2 route mindset

  1. Facility intro & signal story — walk, do not sprint.
  2. Color sequences — one interacter.
  3. Lava — short chain, Pull ready.
  4. Lever syncs — countdown discipline.
  5. Pre-vote inventory of who understands green.
  6. Green vote — hold until confirmed.
  7. Outro & badges — celebrate, then check Updates for new chapters later.

Party composition for Chapter 2

Three to five players remains ideal. Eight-player lobbies can still succeed but need stricter mute-on-memory rules during color puzzles. Put your steadiest platformer second-from-front on lava. Put your clearest speaker on caller duty. Role ideas: Players, Tier List.

After the good ending

  • Screenshot badges for your group chat.
  • Skim Codes in case a celebration code ever drops (none active currently).
  • Recheck Official Links for group shout-outs.
  • Avoid shady executors; if you research automation, read Scripts safety notes first.
  • Help a new friend through Chapter 1 using Getting Started + Walkthrough—teaching cements your own lever timing.

Troubleshooting Chapter 2 bricks

BrickFix
Infinite color failsOne presser; full watch before input
Lava cascadeShorten rope; Pull uphill
Lever desyncVisible countdown; confirm both sides
Wrong endingRe-run and stack green without jokes
Badge confusionLandspace’s Dust tracks Level 2 entry; keep playing

Chapter 2 is where Chained in Backrooms proves it is more than a novelty tether. Move with intention, vote green for the good ending, and keep the chain quieter than the facility alarms.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do I unlock Chapter 2?

Complete Chapter 1 until the Chapter 1 complete banner appears and the game initiates Chapter 2.

Which vote is the good ending?

Choose green on the destiny vote. Red leads to the bad ending in common clear routes.

What is Landspace's Dust?

A badge tied to entering Level 2 for the first time. It marks Chapter 2 progression rather than blocking it.

Are Chapter 2 puzzles harder than Chapter 1 obbies?

They are different—more memory, levers, and lava timing. Parties that already mastered the chain usually adapt faster than pure speedrunners.

Can we see both endings?

Yes. Clear once for green, then replay and vote red if you want the bad ending on purpose.

Where should new Chapter 2 players study first?

Skim Chain Mechanics and Controls, then follow this page with the embedded good-ending video paused between puzzles.
